Distribution
Occurs along the south North Sea coasts, the English Channel, Norway and the Atlantic coast of western Europe
. Also recorded from the Mediterranean Sea, South Africa and the North American Atlantic coast. However, not all of these records might be genuine records of Sthenelais limicola, because the taxonomy of the genus is unclear and the species are frequently misidentified.
