Male specimen.
Specimen photographed in Göttingen
(Niedersachsen, Germany) on July 27, 2007.
Subspecies
Nuctenea umbratica nigricans (Franganillo, 1909) has been described as a separate subspecies. However, Breitling et al. 2016
have re-assessed this taxon and conclude that it cannot refer to
Nuctenea umbratica and they consider it as a nomen dubium. Therefore, I
do not accept it as a subspecies and I also do not list it as a synonym.
I do not recognize subspecies of Nuctenea umbratica.
