Identification
Distribution
The origin of this species is unknown. It has been
first recorded in 2004 in the Netherlands and has dramatically expanded
its territory from there. It is now also known from Switzerland,
Austria and Germany. In Germany it has been recorded in vast numbers
from Nordrhein-Westfalen, Rheinland-Pfalz, and Saarland. It is believed
that this species arrived as a stowaway on a ship to the Netherlands
around the year 2000. The country of origin is unknown, but similar
species occur in Central and North America. (Wijnhoven et al. 2007).
