The name "Pollenia vespillo" has long
been used erroneously for the species
Pollenia amentaria and the true Musca
vespillo has been named Onesia
borotinensis. In addition, the nominal
taxa Chaetopollenia moravica
Jacentkovsky, 1941, Chaetopollenia
pseudobisulca Jacentkovsky, 1941 and
Chaetopollenia soudeki Jacentkovsky,
1941 have been placed in the synonymy of
"Pollenia vespillo". The current status
of all these names is as follows:
(a) the present species receives its
proper name, Musca vespillo (as
Bellardia vespillo) and the previously
used name Onesia borotinensis (as
Bellardia borotinensis) is placed in its
synonymy.
(b) Chaetopollenia moravica is a good
species in the Polleniidae (as Pollenia
moravica) and Chaetopollenia
pseudobisulca is its synonym. The
species has not yet been reported from
Germany
(c) Chaetopollenia soudeki is a synonym
of Pollenia
amentaria, a good species in the
Polleniidae.
