Note: This species belongs to a group of very similar species and is
therefore frequently misidentified. Occasionally, specimens of Pollenia
vagabunda are misidentified as Pollenia contempta (see synonymy above),
but even more frequently other species are erroneously identified as
Pollenia vagabunda. Therefore, I caution the reader against taking
records of Pollenia vagabunda at face value, because often the record
does not refer to this species, but to other species of this genus or
even to species of similar genera (e.g. Bellardia).
