This species should be recognizable from its original description and
the type specimen is still available, but so far it cannot be
confidently placed into a genus. Gagné (2004) list the species
as "unplaced species". However, Meyer and Jaschhof (in Schumann et al.
(1999)) list the species in the genus Porricondyla. Since the nature of
the species is currently unclear, any genus assignment must remain tentative, but the original combination with
Cecidomyia cannot be retained, because the species clearly belongs to
the subfamily Porricondylinae.
