Subspecies
Original description
Synonyms
Drosophila nigriceps Meigen, 1838
The identity of this taxon is unclear and the types appear to be lost.
It cannot be assigend to any presently known Drosophila species in
Germany. It is likely that the name is a synonym of another Drosophila
species, but it is at least possible that it is a bona species that has
not been found again since its original description. The name is listed
as a "nomen dubium" in Brake and Bächli (2008).
Identification
Distribution
Only known from the original description: Meigen (1838) obviously
caught the specimen in the vicinity of Stolberg near Aachen (Germany),
where he lived. This original specimen could not be located in the
collections (Brake and Bächli (2008)) and no further specimens are
known to exist.
