The species was
transferred to Diasemocera by Zatwarnicki T.
2018. Solving the puzzle of taxonomic position
of the Petroleum Fly by resurrection of
Diasemocera Bezzi from Psilopa Fallén
(Diptera: Ephydridae) with proposed specific
and generic synonymies. Annales Zoologici 68,
527-552.
Psilopa nigritella has been synonymised by
Zatwarnicki 2018.
Identification
Distribution
The species is
widely distributed in Europe, Asia and
northern Africa. Before the
synonymisation of the taxa glabricula and
nigritells, there was only a
single record of "glabricula" for Germany, that
has been doubted by Stuke (2011), because the
species is difficult to identify and the record
might be a misidentification. However, since the
the taxa glabricula and nigritella have been
synonymised, the species is now firmly recorded
for Germany.
