Subspecies
Original description
Synonyms
Notiphila pallipes Meigen, 1830
Hydrellia pallipes (Meigen, 1830)
Note: this species cannot currently be identified with any known
species. The
whereabouts of the types are unknown. It is very likely that it
is a synonym of another Ephydridae (not necessarily a Hydrellia
species), but it is also possible that it is a bona species that has
not been recorded since its original description.
Identification
Distribution
Only known from the original description. The type locality is not
given; Meigen only states that he received the specimen(s) from
Christian Wiedemann. Wiedemann had collected dipterans at many
localities in Germany, but had also collected in other countries and he
was also in charge of the Fabricius collection. Thus, the origin of the
specimen might be Germany, but may be another country as well.
