Note: Macquart (1827) established the new
genus Lemtopeza (sic! He later emended this to
Leptopeza) and described a single new species
in this new genus. It is striking that
Macquart´s new species Lemtopeza
flavipes is indeed identical to Ocydromia
flavipes described seven years earlier by
Meigen (1820), and it seems that this identity
of the species epithet is more than
coincidence. It is unclear why Macquart
obviously knew of Meigen´s species but
did not reference him and described the
species as new.
