Platypalpus pseudociliaris

Subspecies

Original description

Synonyms
Empis serrata Schrank, 1803 (p. 171) (nomen dubium; doubtful synonym)
Tachydromia pseudociliaris Strobl, 1910
Platypalpus pseudociliaris (Strobl, 1910)
Tachydromia calcarata Collin, 1926

Note: Empis serrata is the name of an unidentified species described from Bavaria. The fact that the mesofemur is described as "thick" clearly suggest that Empis serrata belongs to the genus Platypalpus. Two "varieties" are described; I take the first description as the original description. This "variety" is described as a large and black species with yellowish legs and antennae and thus tentatively fits the present species. Therefore, I tentatively place the taxon here in the synonymy.
