Lyciella subfasciata (Zetterstedt, 1847)
Note: Merz (2003) has revised the specimens in
the Fallén collection and has
discovered that the only remaining syntype of
the nominal Sapromyza pallida belongs to the
genus Lyciella and is probably identical to
Lyciella subfasciata. As such the name would
be older than the currently valid Lyciella
subfasciata. However, in the syntype specimen
the abdomen is missing and thus an unambiguous
identification is not possible. Merz (2003)
therefore suggests to consider Sapromyza
pallida as an unrecognized species and retain
Lyciella subfasciata as the valid name for the
present species. I agree with this notion and
list Sapromyza pallida here as a nomen dubium.
