Die Körperlänge der Art beträgt 4 bis 6,7 mm. Die Imagines
fliegen von Mai bis September. Die Adulten sitzen gerne an
Honigtau. Die Larven leben im Boden und stellen anderen
kleinen Bodenorganismen nach. Die Art bevorzugt höhere
Gebirgslagen in Europa und Asien.
