Pelidnoptera fuscipennis
|
|
Subspecies
No subspecies are recognized; a monotypic
species.
Original
description
Meigen, 1830
Meigen JW (1830). Systematische Beschreibung der bekannten
europäischen zweiflügeligen Insekten. Volume 6. Schulzische
Buchhandlung, Hamm. p. 16
The type locality is not cleary stated in the original description.
However, Meigen writes that he found both males and females in the area
where he lived ("beide Geschlechter aus hiesiger Gegend"). Thus, it is
likely that the types were collected around Stolberg, near Aachen
(Nordrhein-Westfalen). Meigen´s personal collection is in the
Muséum National d´Histoire Naturelle Paris, but there are
no type specimens in this collection (Sueyoshi et al. 2009). The types
thus might have been distributed to other collections. There are a
number of alleged type specimens in the Naturhistorisches Museum Wien
(Sueyoshi et al. 2009), but so far the original types have not been
identified with certainty.
