This species has been known in the literature as "Panimerus
albomaculatus", but
Kvifte
et al. (2020) have shown that this name has been
misapplied. The name "albomaculatus" is actually a senior
synonym for the Pericoma species that has been called Pericoma
rivularis in the literature, and the present species did not
have a valid name and was therefore described as a new species.

et al. (2020) suggest that the species might also occur
along the German coast.
