Parallelomma paridis Hering, 1923

The taxon paridis has been placed in the synonymy of Paralellomma vittatum by several authors. However, the two taxa differ in their ecology, using different larval foodplants. Indeed, Kahanpää and Haarto (2014) report that the DNA barcodes (fragments of the CO1 gene) differ between specimens collected on Paris (Liliaceae) and specimens collected on Dactylorhiza (Orchidaceae) and they suggest that two species are involved. I follow this notion here and regard the two taxa as separate cryptic species.
