Coremacera marginata

Subspecies
Some authors recognize a subspecies C. m. pontica. However, this subspecies is based on aberrant (very light colored) specimens of C. marginata and I follow Vala (1989) in synonymizing this name with the nominate form.

The taxon Coremacera bivittata (Macquart, 1835), known only from the female type specimen (from Sicily) and two further specimens (collected in central Italy (Latium)), is sometimes considered to be a variant or subspecies of C. marginata. I do not follow this notion here, because there is not enough material available to draw any confident conclusions.

In summary, I do not recognize subspecies of Coremacera marginata.
