Ilione trifaria

Subspecies
No subspecies are recognized.

Original description

Synonyms
Tetanocera trifaria Loew, 1820
Elgiva lateritia Rondani, 1868
Elgiva trivittata Strobl, 1899

Identification

Distribution
This species has a western mediterranean distribution and is recorded from Portugal, Spain, southern France, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, the north-western Balcans, and northern Africa. There is no record from Germany yet, but the distribution map in Vala (1989) shows the range of Ilione trifaria to straddle the German border in the south, and there is a record indicated in the same map that is in Austria very close to the German border. It is thus likely that the species will be recorded in the southern-most part of Germany.
