Subspecies
The taxon Agathis brevis Tobias, 1963, described from Kyrgyzstan, is
very similar to Agathis breviseta and the two taxa can only be
distinguished by subtle differences in head shape. It has therefore
been suggested that Agathis brevis is perhaps a subspecies of Agathis
breviseta (Simbolotti and van Achterberg 1999). However, A. brevis is
currently considered a bona species until more data is available to
assess the specific status of this taxon.
