Synonyms
Opius brevipalpis Thomson, 1895 (nec Alysia brevipalpis Thomson, 1895)
Biosteres brevipalpis (Thomson, 1895)
This
species
is
someties
placed in the subgenus Chilotrichia. This subgenus is sometimes
considered to be a separate genus, but this has not been corroborated
with sufficient data. It is currently unclear which species of
Biosteres s.l. are to be included in Chilotrichia. Therefore, it is
unclear wether Chilotrichia is a monophyletic group and it is unclear
whether its separation from Biosteres would render the remaining
Biosteres paraphyletic. This question can
only be clarified after a thorough revision of this potential genus
group. In the meantime I retain the genus Biosteres in its broader
sense.
This species is sometimes placed in the genus Opius. I have no further
informations on the reasons for doing so, and I thus do not follow this
notion here.
