Note: I consider the genus name to refer to the Greek goddesses of
grace, the Charites, and therefore consider it to be of female gender.
The specific epithet "aratus" could be interpreted as the latin
adjective meaning "ploughed" and then would have to be adjusted in
gender to the genus name ("arata"). However, Walker named most of his
species after Greek and Roman politicians, philosophers and so on, also
indicated by the capital letters of these names in his original
descriptions. Thus, I interpret the name epithet as a reference to
Aratos of Soloi, the author of the philosophical astronomical poem
"Phainomena". The species name is here regarded as a noun in aposition
that does not change with the gender of the genus name.
