Pseudogonalos hahnii (Spinola, 1840)
Note: The generic placement of this species is
debated. The species is not congeneric with
the species in the genus Trigonalys and thus
has to be placed in a different genus. Spinola
has described the species in Trigonalis, a
genus name very similar to Trigonalys, but
differing in a single letter. Previous authors
have argued that the genus name Trigonalis is
not identical with Trigonalys (based on
Article 56.1 ("single letter difference") of
the Code) and is therefore the valid genus
name. However, the original description
clearly shows that the name Trigonalis is an
incorrect subsequent spelling of Trigonalys
and thus is not available (Article 33.3 of the
Code). Thus, Pseudogonalos is the valid genus
name (see also Carmean and Kimsey (1998)).
