Helicoconis eglini

Subspecies
Some authors suggest
that the north American species Helicoconis
californica Meinander, 1972, Helicoconis similis
Meinander, 1972, and Helicoconis walshi Banks,
1906 might be conspecific with H. eglini. Under
this notion the valid name for the species is H.
walshi and the other taxa would be of subspecies
rank. This notion is not followed here and the
American forms as well as the European H. eglini
are regarded as separate valid species,
especially because the female of H. eglini is
still unknown; before the taxonomy of these taxa
is further refined missing data on the
morphology and biology should be available. No
subspecies of Helicoconis eglini are recognized.
