Halipeurus pelagodromae

Subspecies
No subspecies are recognized.
Synonyms
Halipeurus pelagodromae Palma, 2011 (p. 11)
Halipeurus pelagicus auct. nec Denny, 1842 (misidentification)
Identification
No information has been entered yet.
Distribution
Widely distributed along with the occurrence of its host bird species and not restricted geographically to a certain host subspecies (see below). Recorded from Storm-Petrels captured at diverse localities in the Pacific Ocean (including areas off New Zealand, Australia, Peru and Ecuador) and in the Atlantic Ocean (around the Canary, Savage and Cape Verde Islands). Not recorded from Germany yet. However, its bird host may have been recorded in Germany once (see Pelagodroma marina) and because the species is widespread among the host bird populations (see Palma 2011), it might thus occasionally reach Germany along with its host.
Biology
The host bird species of the present species is the White-faced Storm-Petrel (Pelagodroma marina); it has apparently no preference for any of the subspecies of this bird species, because it has been collected from individuals of many subspecies (including albicilunis, dulciae, eadesi, hypoleuca, maoriana, and the nominate marina) (Palma 2011).
