1. History of the English Language

History of the English Language Carol Percy's site at the University of Toronto contains a valuable link collection. Oxford English Dictionary The entire Oxford English Dictionary including a search engine is available to those attached to the university network.
	1b. Classes	History of the English Language at Towson University Edwin Duncan's site contains links to course materials and on-line research aids, such as video clips. History of the English Language at the University of Toronto Ian Lancashire's site includes a select bibliography of reference materials.

2. Indo-European
	2a. Resources	Early Indo-European Online Introduction to Indo-European comparative studies and commented texts on all ancient Indo-European languages. TITUS (Thesaurus Indogermanischer Text- und Sprachmaterialien) The University of Frankfurt's excellent site on various aspects of Indo-European. Ancient Scripts A compendium of world-wide writing systems from prehistory to today.

	3a. Resources	Germanic at Early Indo-European Online Some background information on the Germanic branch of Indo-European languages. Germanic Languages at TITUS A family tree, alphabets and texts from various Germanic languages.

4. Old English
	4a. Resources	Old English Online Some background information on the Anglo-Saxon tongue. Old English Newsletter On-line version of one of the most important periodicals on Old English. Also contains are searchable bibliography. Dictionary of Old English Large project at the University of Toronto which currently covers letters A-G. Anglo-Saxon Dictionary I Site at Pennsylvania that contains Bosworth and Toller's Anglo-Saxon Dictionary in tiff, html and txt-format. Anglo-Saxon Dictionary II Kevin Kiernan also provides Bosworth and Toller's Anglo-Saxon Dictionary in electronic form. Concise Anglo-Saxon Dictionary Here you can find scans of all pages of Hall's Concise Anglo-Saxon Dictionary (2nd ed.). Very helpful if you do not have access to a printed copy. An Old English Glossary Peter Baker has compiled a searchable glossary, which covers the texts examined in his class. TOEBI Web Resources The Society of Teachers of Old English in Britain and Ireland lists a great deal of invaluable web resources. Fontes Anglo-Saxonici Project A very important project which tries to establish the source material used by Anglo-Saxon authors; contains a searchable database.
	4b. Classes	Old English at the University of Virginia Peter Baker's site is extremely useful for learning and practising Old English even without a teacher. Includes the infamous Old English Aerobics as well as Anglo-Saxon typefaces. Introduction to Old English On-line version of Peter Baker's book Introduction to Old English (Oxford, 2003). Old English at the University of Calgary A large amount of material including texts is available from this site. Edwin Duncan's Old English Class Old English at Towson University. Contains course material and links.
	4c. Corpora	Old English Corpus The entire Old English Corpus can be accessed and searched by anyone with a valid subscription. Old English Literature The Labyrinth Library lists all Old English texts available for viewing on the web.

5. Middle English
	5a. Resources	Middle English Teaching Resources Online Great electronic resource for Middle English language learning featuring a web-based programme that students can use. Middle English Dictionary The entire Middle English Dictionary including a search engine is freely available. Anthology of Late Middle English Literature Information on all important English works of the later Middle Ages. The Electronic Canterbury Tales D. T. Kline's online compendium and companion at the University of Alaska. Digitisation of Middle English Manuscripts The Middle English manuscripts of the Hunterian Collection at Glasgow are available in digital format.
	5b. Classes	Edwin Duncan's Chaucer Class Chaucer at Towson University. Contains course material and links. Teach Yourself to Read Chaucer Here you can learn about Chaucer's language without having to consult a teacher.
	5c. Corpora	Middle English Corpus The University of Michigan has made available many Middle English texts which can be searched and displayed at full length. Middle English Bookcase The Labyrinth Library offers general links as well as texts to download.

6. Early Modern English
	6a. Resources	Early English Books online Facsimilies of books printed during the Early Modern English period. English Short Title Catalogue List of all books printed during the Early Modern English period. Great Vowel Shift Site Melinda Menzer site contains extensive information on one of the most important linguistic changes in English language history. Early Modern Literary Studies This site at Sheffield University is an invaluable resource collection on all aspects of Early Modern English. Early Modern English Sources Important information on Renaissance Culture and Society. Shakespeare and the Internet There are dozens of sites on Shakespeare on the web. Here is a good collection of links.
	6b. Classes	Proper Elizabethan Accents Learn how to speak Elizabethan English properly. Renaissance Literature and Language at Toronto Course information on Ian Lancashire's Class.
	6c. Corpora	Michigan Early Modern English Materials Here you can search the Early Modern English Corpus at the University of Michigan. Renascence Editions An online repository of works printed in English between the years 1477 and 1799. Perseus Renaissance Materials Excellent on-line text collection. The Complete Works of Shakespeare One of several sites containing the work of the Bard. King James Bible The entire text of the Authorized Version including a search engine is available from the University of Virginia.
