ASSESSMENT

Here you find what you need to do in order to pass this course:

HOW TO PREPARE FOR CLASSES

  • Study the textbook: J. A. Burrow and T. Turville-Petre, A Book of Middle English, 2nd ed. (Oxford, 1996). Prepare the relevant pages, and note all problems and arising questions for discussion in class. It is recommended that you consult further publications for more information, e.g. J. A. W. Bennett and G. V. Smithers, Early Middle English Verse and Prose, 2nd ed. (Oxford, 1968) [ME AAB 1966:2]. Good text collections also covering the Middle English period are D. Burnley, The History of the English Language: a Source Book (London and New York, 1992) [S FA 1992:3], and E. M. Treharne, Old and Middle English: an Anthology (Oxford, 2000) [AE AAB 2000:1] .

  • Study and prepare any relevant handouts sent out by e-mail and found in the folder labelled Traxel Proseminar in the departmental library. Note all problems and arising questions for discussion in class.

  • Here you can find a Bibliography with further publications.
