HOW TO PREPARE FOR CLASSES
If you are scheduled to give a presentation, divide the relevant pages among your fellow speakers, prepare these, and provide a handout for your fellow students. Each speaker should need no more than ten minutes. All presentations are taken from C. Jones, The Edinburgh History of the Scots Language (Edinburgh, 1997) [S FP 1997:1]. There is also a pdf-document with a list of participants and presentations.
Study the textbook: M. Görlach,
A Textual History of Scots (Heidelberg, 2002). Prepare the relevant pages, and note all problems and arising questions for discussion in class. It is recommended that you consult
further publications for more information, especially C. Jones, The English Language in Scotland (East Linton, 2002) [4.0 Jone 2002].
