DGaaE Auchenorrhyncha study group We work mainly on the ecology, systematics and zoogeography of central European Fulgoromorpha and Cicadomorpha (Insecta, Hemiptera, Auchenorrhyncha). Furthermore, some of us do research on jumping plantlice (Psylloidea), bugs (Heteroptera), big-headed flies (Diptera, Pipunculidae) and stylopids (Strepsiptera). We edit the annual journal "Beiträge zur Zikadenkunde", with original papers in German and English. Please send manuscripts and requests to Werner Witsack and Herbert Nickel. Since 1994 we have an annual meeting, usually in late summer. The last meetings took place in the viticultural region of the Kaiserstuhl, southwestern Germany, June 2002, in Schluechtern, August 2003 (Photo by courtesy of W.E. Holzinger), in Vienna, August 2004, in Luxemburg, August 2005 and on Alp Flix (Graubünden, Switzerland). The next meeting will be held just before the 4th European Hemiptera Congress in Ivrea (Italy) August 2007. The number of participants is usually between 20 to 40, most of them coming from Austria, Britain, Czechia, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Poland, Slowenia and Switzerland. Meeting announcements and reports will be published in the DGaaE Bulletin and in the web. Guests are always welcome. Members of the group (R. Biedermann & R. Niedringhaus and W. & I. Holzinger, & H. Nickel) have compiled keys to the central European Auchenorrhyncha fauna, including their nymphal stages. Since 1995 several check lists and Red Data lists of various states and regions have been published. Contact through Werner Witsack (Halle), Roland Achtziger (Freiberg), Werner Holzinger (Graz) and Herbert Nickel (Göttingen). |
