WG meeting 2008 in Paris, France
At our last meeting in 2005, held at IGR Poznan, Poland, we decided to meet next in Paris, France. The meeting was held at FIAP, Paris during 29th of September to 1st of October, which was organized in a calm and perfect way by Xavier Pinochet and his colleagues from CETIOM. Thanks for all the additional workload you took and your hospitality!
The meeting was attended by 58 participants. Alltogether 54 communications coming from 15 different nations were presented (oral and posters).
All sessions were jointly attended by the two subgroups. The meeting was assessed and commented by our liason officer in a way we would like to cite: "The arrangements were very satisfactory and, as usual, many interesting talks and posters were presented. There was plenty of discussion. ... The pathology talks dominated the meeting because the majority of the participants were plant pathologists. It was felt by the entomologists that it would have been good to have at least some parallel sessions. It was suggested that the entomologists should make an effort to get more people from that discipline to attend the next meeting." (B. Ekbom) Altogether, we feel it was a very impressive, engaged and stimulating meeting, including also papers which have not been within the portfolio of our working group before.
During the meeting Birger was re-elected convenor for the time period 2009-2013. The election was led -many thanks to both of them - by Barbara Ekbom and Xavier Pinochet.
It was decided that the next meeting should take place in 2010, early to mid October. Bernd Ulber suggested that the next meeting be held in Göttingen, Germany. The suggestion was approved and it was decided to hold the meeting in 2010 in Germany.
