Identification
Distribution
Biology
This is a
very common species in Germany and one of the
best known synanthropic native spider species.
Adult females can be found all year,
especially in buildings (cellars, attics
etc.); in the field the species occurs in a
variety of habitats. Adult males occur only
from July to October. The males migrate during
this time, especially at night, searching for
the web tubes of a female, and therefore are frequently found at night
walking across the walls and floors inside of
buildings.
