description
Synonyms
Aranea
decemguttata Goeze (in Lister
in libro converso ab Martini et Goeze), 1778 (Truly binominal
name? Nomen oblitum?)
Aranea campestris C. L. Koch, 1834
Tegenaria campestris (C.
L. Koch, 1834)
Philoica campestris (C.
L. Koch, 1834)
Malthonica campestris (C.
L. Koch, 1834)
Note: this
species is placed in Malthonica by most authors.
However, the analysis by Bolzern
et al. 2010 clearly shows that Malthonica
and Tegenaria are not monophyletic if both are
recognized as separate taxa. I therefore combine
both genera under the older name of Tegenaria. For more information
on this issue see my comments under Tegenaria ferruginea.
Identification
A
medium sized species; females between 6-7 mm,
males about 5-6 mm.

synanthropic; lives under stones and tree

lower or sparse vegetation. Adults can be
found from May to September. A rare species in
Germany.
