Note: this species
is placed in Malthonica by most authors.
However, the analysis by Bolzern
et al. 2010 clearly shows that Malthonica
and Tegenaria are not monophyletic if both are
recognized as separate taxa. I therefore combine
both genera under the older name of Tegenaria. For more information

Identification
The body
length of females is 6-9 mm, the males are
usually smaller: 5-6 mm.
Distribution
Biology
This species
is mainly found in the forests of the
Mittelgebirge in Germany, where it lives under
stones and tree roots, but it can also be
encountered in other habitat types. Adults are
present from February to October. In Germany
the species is quite common.
