Subspecies
I do not recognize subspecies. However, this
taxon is likely a complex of closely related
species (see also note below) and thus taxa
described as subspecies of the present species
probably are separate species.

Note: The status of the taxa aterrimus,
pulchellus, fuscus and pallidus is debated and I
therefore provisionally place them all in the
synonymy of lineatus. However, they are
ecologically and morphologically distinct and
are likely separate species. A revision of this
taxon complex is urgently necessary.
