Cicada nervosa Linnaeus, 1758
Cixius nervosus (Linnaeus, 1758)
Cixius nervosus longispinus Wagner, 1955
The form longispinus differs from the nominate form by the long spine on
the aedeagal theca. Both forms seem to segregate in the populations and
thus longispinus appears to be no separate entity. However, the
genetics of the longispinus form are not yet known and the possibility
remains that longispinus and the nominate nervosa are fully sympatric
but separate species.
