Identification

Body length 8-14 mm.

Distribution
|
The distribution in Germany is unclear. Most published records in the
northern part of the country are currently believed to be
misidentifications of the more common Stenostola dubia. Thus, Stenostola
ferrea is considered to be a predominantly southern species. However,
Stenostola ferrea is also recorded from Denmark and southern Sweden;
therefore I consider it possible that Stenostola ferrea is actually
distributed throughout Germany. Stenostola specimens should therefore be
identified with special care to gain a better picture of the true range
of the two species.
