Identification
This species is sexually dimorphic. The males are typically all metallic-dark, only very rarely the pronotum can be partially orange-red. The females are similar, but always have an orange-red pronotum, that sometimes can have black edges.


Distribution



Biology
Some authors believe this species to be active only during the night. At least the female that I photographed in Frankfurt (see photos on the right) was found sitting on the upper surface of a leaf in the bright sunlight, which suggests that at least females are not exclusively nocturnal.
