Most authors include the related families Lagriidae and Alleculidae in the Tenebrionidae as subfamilies. The comprehensive phylogeny of Hunt et al. (2007) suggests that the Alleculidae is indeed a subfamily of Tenebrionidae and I include them here as Alleculinae in the Tenebrionidae. However, the Lagriidae are only distantly related with the Tenebrionidae within the Tenebrionoidea and I regard them as a separate family.
