Taxonomy and Phylogeny
|
In the literature the names Carcinophoridae and Anisolabididae are used
more or less interchangeably for the present family. However, if both
names are considered to be synonyms, then Anisolabididae is the older
name and therefore has priority. Some authors use Carcinophorinae as the
name of a subfamily within Anisolabididae, but the analysis by Jarvis et al. (2005) suggests that the Carcinophorinae as used in this subfamily concept is paraphyletic. Therefore, I do not use the taxon here.
