The taxon asiatica (not recorded from Germany) has long been regarded as a subspecies of the present species. However, Wang et al. (2014)
find significant differences, especially in male genitalia morphology,
and therefore elevate it to species rank, Adia asiatica Fan (in Fan et
al.), 1988.
