Note: The catalog by Dely-Draskovits (1993) list the conversata taxon
twice: each described by Tiensuu in the Acta Societatis pro Fauna et
Flora Fennica series, but allegedly in two different volumes (volume 58 and volume
59). However, this is incorrect: the taxon conversata has been
described by Tiensuu (1936) in the fourth chapter of volume 58 of the
Acta Societatis pro Fauna et Flora Fennica series. But there is no
additional description of this taxon in volume 59.
Specimens of Delia tenuiventris and its synonym Delia conversata have been misidentified as "Hylemyia
angustitarsis" by Ringdahl (see Suwa 1981). This misidentification has since been
picked up by many subsequent authors who have erroneously synonymized
the true Delia angustitarsis (Malloch, 1920) with the present species.
The true Delia angustitarsis does not occur in Europe, but is
distributed in northern America.
