Note: the name Rhamphomyia trilineata is a
nomen dubium that cannot be identified. The
short original description suggests that the
name belongs to a species from the
sulcata/sulcatella/sulcatina group, but it
cannot be identified with either of the three
species. Some authors synonymize it with the
present species (and thus this dubious name
becomes the valid name for the species), but I
regard it as a synonym of the oldest name in
this group (i.e. Rhamphomyia
sulcata), because then this nomen dubium
becomes a junior synonym and does not threat
any well-defined names. I believe that this
serves nomenclatural stability best.
