Identification
Distribution
Distributed in southern and south-eastern
Europe, northern Africa and Asia. The original
description by Fieber
(1851) gives "Germany and Hungary" as type
locality, but it has to be kept in mind that
"Germany" at the time meant the German
Federation ("Deutscher Bund") that included
parts of Austria, Italy and other contemporary
states. Thus, the record "Germany" does not
necessarily constitute a genuine record for
Germany in its contemporary borders. In fact, no
additional record has since been reported for
Germany; however, because all Sciocoris species
are very similar, special care should be applied
when specimens of this genus are identified, and
the occurence of this species in the southern
parts of Germany is not entirely impossible.
