Some authors regard them as synonyms of Rhopalus subrufus, but most authors place them as doubtful synonyms in the synonymy of the present species. Note: The status of Rhopalus distinctus is debated. I regard it as a separate species, but some authors regard it as identical with Rhopalus conspersus.
