Hyssopus tephridus

< Previous    |    Next >

Subspecies
No subspecies are recognized.

Synonyms
Hyssopus tephridus Yefremova (in Yefremova et Vidal), 1997 (p. 401)
Type locality: Bayreuth, Destuben (Bayern, Germany)
Holotype: Zoologische Staatssammlung München

The species epithet tephridus obviously refers to the secondary host of this species (flies of the genus Tephritis), but is not a grammatically formed adjective or otherwise a correct adjectival form. I therefore regard it as a noun in apposition.

Identification
No information has been entered yet.

Distribution
Recorded from Germany (Bayern).

Biology
The species is a hyperparasite that parasitizes in other parasitic hymenopterans (host species not unequivocally identified, probably species of Pteromalus or Eurytoma) which parasitize in fruit pest diptera (Tephritis crepidis; family Tephritidae) on the plant Crepis biennis.
