Biology

This species parasitizes in species of the beetle family Tenebrionidae, especially in representatives of the genus Gonocephalum, Opatrum and Pedinus. It is unclear whether reports of other hosts, namely beetles of the family Elateridae and diverse lepidopterans (Noctuidae, Notodontidae, Tortricidae), really refer to Anomalon cruentatum, or are based on misidentifications of the parasite (reviewed in Schnee, 2014).
