This species is often placed in its own genus Chrysocramboides. I do
not find significant differences between Chrysocrambus and
Chrysocramboides to justify genus rank for Chrysocramboides. Therefore,
I do not currently adopt the placement of Chrysocrambus craterella in
the genus Chrysocramboides.

Europe
and Asia Minor. In Germany recorded from Hessen, Rheinland-Pfalz,
Saarland. Older records also exist from Nordrhein-Westfalen, Sachsen
and Sachsen-Anhalt. There is also an unconfirmed record from Bayern.
