Crambus perlella monochromellus Herrich-Schäffer, 1852
Crambus rostellus De Laharpe, 1855
This species is very similar to Crambus perlella and some authors
regard it to be an environmental modification (high alpine climate
form) of C. perlella. As such it would be a synonym of C. perlella.
Other authors regard it as a subspecies of C. perlella (Fazekas, 1993).
More work is
needed to clarify the species status of C. monochromellus.
Distribution
Described from the Großglockner
(Austria), but also recorded from the Caucasus and mountainous areas in
Asia Minor. Doubtful records exist from Hungary, Romania, Russia and
Finland,
but these have never been confirmed.
Not yet recorded from Germany, but the species seems to be adapted to
alpine habitats and has been described from near the Germany border and
thus might also be found in the Bavarian Alps.
