Crambus scoticus auct. nec Westwood, 1849
Crambus uliginosellus infuscatellus Caradja, 1910
Bleszynski (1965) concluded that the species Crambus scoticus Westwood,
1849 is identical to C. uliginosellus Zeller, 1850 and has therefore
changed the
name to the one year older C. scoticus. However, most other authors
believe that C. scoticus is identical to C.
pratella Linnaeus, 1758 and thus a junior synonym of the latter.
Obviously, the identity of Crambus scoticus Westwood, 1849 cannot be
established and the name should therefore be regarded a nomen dubium.
Distribution
Europe to Asia minor. Recorded from most
European countries. In Germany recorded from all Bundesländer, but
many
records are old, suggesting that the species is declining. Current
records exist only from: Niedersachsen, Nordrhein-Westfalen,
Saarland, Baden-Württemberg, Bayern and Brandenburg.
