The genus assignment of this species is problematic and currently
unclear to me: The genus Acigona is problematic, because the identity
of Hübner´s Acigona is unclear. Therefore, Friedlanderia was
erected. However, the nominal species Tinea cicatricella has been
selected as the type species of Acigona in 1962. I am currently not
sure whether this act automatically defines the genus Acigona, even
though the identity of the original Acigona is unclear. More work is
necessary to clarify these issues.
