Subspecies
Five subspecies are
recognized. The nominate form does not occur in Germany. The subspecies
that also occurs in Germany is Phycitodes inquinatella exustella.

Distribution
The
nominate subspecies is
distributed in south east and eastern Europe, and Asia Minor. Phycitodes inquinatella exustella is distributed in southern France,
southern Germany, Switzerland, and Austria. In
Germany recorded from Rheinland-Pfalz, Saarland,
Baden-Württemberg, and Bayern.
